SA Davis Cup Team Triumphs Over Nigeria in Pretoria
South Africa’s Davis Cup team delivered a commanding performance at the Groenkloof Tennis Centre in Pretoria this past weekend, securing a 3-1 victory over Nigeria in a Group II playoff. This win keeps their hopes alive for promotion to higher Davis Cup groups as they continue their quest to restore national tennis glory.
Local tennis fans witnessed the national team in action for the first time since 2018, and they were not disappointed. Former Bloemfontein star Philip Henning played a pivotal role, securing two crucial singles victories. Henning then teamed up with Alec Beckley to claim a decisive doubles win, sealing the tie for South Africa.
With this victory, South Africa strengthens its position and takes a step closer to reclaiming its former status on the international tennis stage.
