The highly anticipated charity rugby derby in Moot attracted a spirited crowd of over 7,000 enthusiastic alumni, all rallying behind their respective teams. On March 14, the annual clash between HTS John Vorster Old Boys, known as the Bull Dogs, and the Oos-Moot Legends enthralled spectators from kickoff to the final whistle. This vibrant match, structured in four gripping 20-minute quarters with brief five-minute intermissions, concluded with the Oos-Moot Legends triumphing over the Bull Dogs with a score of 24–15.
Before the game, former Blou Bul player Tian Schoeman made a significant impact by sharing his wealth of experience. He conducted a kicking clinic, providing invaluable tips to players and hosting an engaging informal competition that ignited excitement among both participants and onlookers.
Right from the outset, the Legends set an assertive tone, successfully converting a penalty kick within the first five minutes of play. This early momentum was bolstered by an impressive display of agility and strategic teamwork, highlighted by the skillful maneuvers of players who had recently graduated in 2023. Their dynamic interplay and tactical prowess kept the audience on the edge of their seats, as each quarter unfolded with exhilarating action and dramatic plays.
