Pretoria Karate Club Strikes Gold at Regionals
Kiritsu Karate, a local dojo in Pretoria East, delivered an outstanding performance at the Tshwane Regional Championships, earning a total of 45 medals — 20 gold, five silver, and 10 bronze — from its 29 competing students.

Several athletes excelled across multiple disciplines, including kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), which contributed to the impressive tally. Their success means every competitor has now qualified for the Gauteng Provincial Tournament in 2026, where they will represent Tshwane against the province’s top karate talent. Sensei Justin du Plooy praised the students’ discipline, focus, and spirit, noting that the dojo’s recognition as Best Martial Arts Studio for 2025 reflects both the quality of training and the athletes’ commitment. The achievement underscores Kiritsu Karate’s growing reputation as a force in martial arts, with the community eagerly anticipating their provincial performance.
