Poland Bound? PSL Players Eligible For World Cup
Thabo Senong, the Under-20 national team coach, helped his side book a spot at this year’s Youth World Cup without most of the PSL big hitters.
But there’s already talks and questions on whether the Amajita mentor will go back to the clubs to ask that the top flight regulars be released for the big stage in Poland this May. A few PSL clubs snubbed Senong after he released his provisional squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Niger this month.
The Siya crew looked at which players – some who were at the Under-20 tournament to help South Africa book their ticket to the global showpiece – would be eligible to represent their country from the PSL.
It’s up to SAFA and the clubs, however, to negotiate the release of the young players much like the 2017 World Cup in South Korea.
These are the names:
Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (Kaizer Chiefs)
Augustine Mahlonoko (Orlando Pirates)
Duncan Adonis (Cape Town City)
Sibusiso Mabiliso (AmaZulu)
Luke Fleurs (SuperSport United)
Luke Le Roux (SuperSport United
Dylan Stoffels (SuperSport United)
Goodman Mosele (Baroka FC)
Ngcobo, Le Roux and Mabiliso were part of the team in Niger.
