Penultimate Round of the 2021 Extreme Festival
The Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria will host the penultimate round of the 2021 Extreme Festival this Saturday – with a delightful bonus.
For the first time since the imposition of Lockdown conditions 18 months ago, spectators will be allowed.
The circuit will be at liberty to admit 2 000 people, apart from the usual individuals who make race meetings happen.
With six national and one international racing discipline on the cards, the spectators will have good reason to visit Zwartkops.
Topping proceedings will be two races for Global Touring Cars, with Robert Wolk (Chemical Logistics Toyota Corolla) and Michael van Rooyen (Gazoo Toyota Corolla) to resume their season-long title fight.
Others who could interfere will include Scott Temple (Chemical Logistics Corolla), Mandla Mdakane (Gazoo Corolla), Julian van der Watt (Ford Focus) and Lee Thompson (Universal BMW).
Top drivers in the SupaCup category must include Bradley Liebenberg (Sparco SupaPolo), Jonathan Mogotsi (VW Motorsport SupaPolo), Jeffrey Kruger (Universal SupaPolo), Jason Campos (Turn1 SupaPolo), Dawie Joubert (Wild Rose SupaPolo) and Keegan Campos (Campos Transport SupaPolo).
Leyton Fourie (Express Polo), Arnold Neveling (Stradale Polo), Nathi Msimanga (Squadra Corse Polo), Tasmin Pepper (Campos Polo), Dawie van der Merwe (Universal Polo) and Clinton Bezuidenhout (Universal Polo) should be people lo watch in the VW Polo Cup races.
Having already clinched this year’s Investchem F1600 title, Andrew Rackstraw (Investchem Mygale) will be targeted by rivals like Nicholas van Weely (Magnificent Paints Van Diemen), Andrew Schofield (Investchem Mygale), Josh le Roux (ILCA FF1600) and Antwan Geldenhuys (Abacus Mygale).
Graeme van Breda (Stefanutti Stocks ZX10) has also taken the SunBet Kawasaki Masters title, and fighting to beat him this time will be people like Gareth Bezuidenhout (Kawasaki ZX10), Appanna Ganapathy (Art ZX10), Rob Cragg (Matrix ZX10) and Travis Naude (BUCCO ZX10).
Topping the BMW Race Series entries should be Sav Gualtieri (SavSpeed BMW 335i V8 Turbo), Andreas Meier (Trained Amateurs BMW E36), William Einkamerer (BTAS BMW 335i), Oz Biagnoni (Bio Pool BMW M3), Jagger Robertson (Viking BMW E46) and Lyle Ramsay (Fuchs BMW E36).
Rounding out the day’s activities will be two races for 19 KIA Picanto Cup drivers from Mozambique, with the little cars’ progress around Zwartkops watched with great interest.
The Zwartkops gates will be open from 7am, with the first race to start at 10am.
Tickets will cost R130 per adult and R90 per student, with children under the age of 12 years to go in for free.
Fans can purchase tickets from the Zwartkops circuit office, or on line by contacting Eunice at info@zwartkops.co.za.
