From Tuks to Tokyo: Lerato Mohale’s Hockey Journey
Lerato Mohale: Hockey Star with Heart

One of the most experienced hockey stars of TuksHockey recently talked about herself and her love for the game.
Lerato Mohale has been part of TuksHockey since 2019, helping her team win the USSA Tournament three times. She also represented South Africa at U18 and U21 level before making her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2021.
She first tried hockey in primary school, where the friendships and teamwork drew her in. Her skills quickly stood out, earning her national call-ups.
As a defender, Mohale is known for staying calm, reading the game well, and always giving her best. She says her biggest highlight was playing against Ireland in her first Olympic match.
Her role model is her mother, Mpho, who taught her to be independent and to fight for what she believes in.
Off the field, Mohale enjoys rom-com movies and reading biographies. One of her favourite books is Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime, which she finished in just a day and a half.
