FNB has stepped up as the principal partner for the Boks
SA Rugby confirmed on Wednesday that FNB has stepped up as the principal partner for all national rugby teams, with the bank’s logo now prominently displayed on the front of all team jerseys.

This expanded agreement shifts the FNB logo from the Springboks’ shoulders to the centre of their playing jersey. The branding will also be featured on the jerseys of the men’s and women’s sevens squads, as well as all age-group national teams.
The announcement marks a continuation of FNB’s commitment to South African rugby, having already served as the primary sponsor of the Springbok Women’s team for the past three years.
“FNB has been an exceptional partner to the Springboks and South African rugby for many years, and we’re thrilled to elevate our collaboration,” said SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer. “Having their support across all our national teams is a game-changer, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
The FNB-branded jerseys will be rolled out in the coming weeks, with their first appearance set for 5 July, when the Springboks face Italy in Pretoria.
The value of the Springbok jersey has soared since SA Rugby president Mark Alexander appointed Rassie Erasmus as head coach in 2018. Under his leadership, a revitalized national team clinched back-to-back World Cup titles, transforming the Springboks into a coveted global brand.
FNB reportedly outbid international competitors to secure this premium sponsorship deal. With the jersey now estimated to be worth around R300 million—compared to the R30 million valuation during SA Rugby’s financial struggles in 2016—the Springbok brand has never been stronger in the eyes of sponsors.
