Team Deftac take home the trophy in the first-ever security sector war games
“Security officers spend a lot of time away from home and their families, and at the end of the day,
Team Deftac was crowned champions at the very first Union Specific war games which took place on Saturday at AWOL Paintball field.
A total of R10 000 and a floating trophy were up for grabs for the winning team which consisted of Rynhardt du Preez, Quinten Button, Wiehahn Halgryn, Clive Swanepoel, Ziyaad Abrams, and Wico Ehlers.
Security companies that took each other on in the war zone were Deftac, Kilnerpark, PRSS, Bull Security, Bakie Takies, and Sector Forces
A team consisted of six members. Teams were divided into groups where each group had the opportunity to take each other on the battlefield.
Organizers of the event, Union Specific’s spokesperson, Priscilla Smith said that the purpose of the event was to thank members to kept communities safe, “but also just to have some fun”.
Security officers spend a lot of time away from home and their families, and at the end of the day, and while their role in the community does not go unnoticed, it is sometimes overlooked.
“We want to thank each and every officer for working hand-in-hand with the police as well as the various CPF members for our community,” she said.
Team Bull placed second, also receiving prize money of R5 000. The team members of Bakie Takies came third, winning R2 000.
