In the headline 50km, Onalenna Khonkhobe dominated, crossing the finish line at Pilditch Stadium in an impressive 2:52:01. On the women’s side, Margaret Jepchumba ran a commanding race
to claim victory.
“It was a challenging course, but the atmosphere and crowd support kept me going,” said Khonkhobe.
10km Races Deliver Thrills
The shorter distances brought their own excitement. Naomy Jerona of Nedbank sprinted to the women’s title, while Erick Ngeno narrowly beat Tshepo Mphulanyane for first in the men’s race.
Community Spirit at Every Turn
It wasn’t just about competition. Pretoria’s iconic jacaranda blooms provided a stunning backdrop as families and supporters cheered runners on, celebrating personal milestones and podium finishes alike.
Smooth Transport, Seamless Experience
Thanks to a partnership with Gautrain, transport to and from the event was effortless, allowing runners and spectators to focus on the race and the city’s springtime beauty.
“Events like this remind you why we love Pretoria in spring,” said one spectator, watching the runners pass under the purple jacarandas.
With elite performances, community energy, and the city in full bloom, the 2025 City2City Marathon confirmed its place as one of South Africa’s most cherished road-running spectacles.
