Big Jacques du Plessis returns to Loftus
The Bulls pulled in another big fish with the recruitment of Jacques du Plessis, who is now officially on his way back to Loftus Versfeld after five seasons in France.
After days of speculation in the media, the Blue Bulls Company officially announced today that the big lock/loose forward Jacques du Plessis is on his way back to Loftus Versfeld from French club, Montpellier.
Du Plessis will arrive back in the Jacaranda City on 1 July 2021, after he signed a on a three year deal with Jake White’s team.
The 27-year-old Du Plessis, affectionately known as Sheep, started his professional career at Loftus Versfeld where he made his senior provincial debut at the age of 19. He eventually played Super Rugby (31 caps), Currie Cup (30 caps) and Vodacom Cup rugby for the Bulls and Blue Bulls, after also representing the Blue Bulls at u.19 and u.21 levels.
The former Junior Springbok and SA Schools flank, who slots in at lock with ease, moved to Montpellier at the end of 2015 where he went on to earn more than 100 caps for the French Top 14 club.
