Showers and thundershowers to dominate this weekend
Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso warned motorists to be cautious on slippery roads.
Pretoria residents should expect more downpours this weekend, the SA Weather Service said
A cut-off low developing to the far west of the country was expected to make landfall in the west, thus causing widespread showers and thundershowers.
Isolated showers and thundershowers were expected to persist throughout Gauteng on Thursday going into the weekend, said forecaster Venicia Pakula.
“On Friday, we are looking at a 30% chance of scattered thundershowers with cloudy conditions. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 27°C,” she said.
Pakula said more rain was predicted for Saturday and Sunday.
“For Saturday, expect morning showers on and off but it should be warmer later with temperatures hitting 26°C. Scattered thundershowers will return in the later afternoon going into the evening.”
She said the rain would persist throughout Sunday with maximum temperatures dropping to 20°C.
Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso warned motorists to be cautious on slippery roads.
He said that although no major incidents were reported so far this week, the management team would remain on high alert, especially in the Centurion area.
