Pretoria foundation launches ‘Spring a Smile’ drive
A local foundation launched its “Spring a Smile” drive in support of orphaned and vulnerable children.
Morongwa Foundation launched the feeding drive for about 200 orphaned and vulnerable children at the Leutlwetse Early Childhood Development (ECD) Haven in Hebron, North West on September 5.
The day was not just about celebrating spring with orphaned and vulnerable children but also to introduce the caregivers to permaculture farming.
“The training was facilitated in appreciation of the important role caregivers played as frontline workers, as well as equipping them with the necessary skills to address food security and encourage them to start their agricultural cooperatives,” Nkagare Makhudu, founder and CEO of Morongwa Foundation said.
“Morongwa Foundation believes that unemployment can be curbed through skills development, thus diffusing the dependency syndrome and sense of entitlement,” he said.
Makhudu said strategic partnerships were crucial in activating socio-economic development.
