President attends launch of automotive hub in east of Pretoria
More than 6 000 direct jobs were expected to be created through the Tshwane automotive hub in Silverton, east of Pretoria.
The announcement was made by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the launch of the automotive hub at the Ford motor company on Tuesday.
Ramaphosa said around R3,6-billion had been ploughed into the Tshwane automotive hub.
“It fills me with a great deal of pride, I am so encouraged,” he said.
The automotive hub would go a long way toward not only creating jobs but supporting local businesses and spurring the growth of the city, Ramaphosa said.
Gauteng premier David Makhura said the aim was to make Tshwane the automotive and innovative hub instead of “just the country’s administrative capital”.
