Pipe Connection Leads to Water Interruption in Ga-Rankuwa
17 November 2017
The City of Tshwane would like to inform its customers in Ga-Rankuwa about a scheduled water supply interruption that will affect the area from 20 to 22 November 2017 starting at 8h00 until 15h00.
The City has to shut-down the water supply in order to do a tie-in connection in the outlet pipeline of the Zone 6 east reservoir. This connection is part of the two bulk water pipeline upgrading project in Ga-Rankuwa.
The pipes (both bulk and reticulation) in Ga-Rankuwa were predominantly old asbestos cement pipes and the water supply system design was not up to the required standard. The City undertook to replace the worn-out water network with new pipes in order to address capacity constraints and maintenance factor.
The project will bring stability to the existing water reticulation network which has deteriorated to an unserviceable level.
The interruptions are planned as follows:
Date Venue Time
20 November 2017 Zone 2 08h00 until 15h00
21 November 2017 Zone 7,8 and 9 08h00 until 15h00
22 November 2017 Zone 5 and 6 08h00 until 15h00
Residents in the above mentioned areas are advised to store water for household use during this period. The City apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the connection work.
