Notice: Controlled Firebreaks at Rietvlei Nature Reserve

The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department informs the community about upcoming controlled burning activities at Rietvlei Nature Reserve in Centurion. These firebreaks will be established from Tuesday, June 24, 2025, through Friday, June 27, 2025, as a proactive measure to prevent potential wildfires during the winter season.

Members of the public are requested not to report these controlled burning activities to the Emergency Communication Centre. The Fire and Rescue Operations Division, in collaboration with Rietvlei Nature Reserve officials, will supervise the controlled burns.

For reporting any other fire or rescue incidents, citizens can call the toll-free number 107 or 012 358 6300/6400. When making an emergency call, please remain calm, speak clearly, and provide your exact location and contact number so that operators can assist efficiently.
