North municipal office ‘partially’ reopened
The Akasia municipal offices, in the north of Pretoria, were only partially open for business again on Thursday morning after a group of residents tried to forcefully enter the building the previous day.
According to an anonymous source, the residents demanded answers about why their electricity connections had been blocked.
They were also upset about incorrect bills for “huge” amounts in addition to written final demands for payment.
Residents were, however, unable to get any answers since the metro employees were on strike over a salary dispute.
The strike by the SA Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) led to numerous service delivery delays over the past few days.
On Thursday morning, the source said only the credit control section was open.
