No more walk-inns to the Driving Licence Testing Centres
The Member for Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Roads and Transport, Councillor Sheila Senkubuge, would like to advise members of the public that as of the 1st October 2018, there will be no more walk-inns at all Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTC) for people applying for driving card licence, PrDP and learners’ licence in Tshwane.
This follows the introduction of an online booking system that was launched on the 31 August 2018.
Centres that will be immediately affected in the City of Tshwane are Watloo, Centurion, Akasia and Bronkhorstspruit.
The new system will give power to prospective learner licence and driving licence applicants to determine the date, time and place where they wish to take their tests by logging on an online application and finalize pre-bookings in five to 10 minutes.
The current process requires applicants to queue for between 140-180 minutes at a testing station.
The MMC has urged all residents of Tshwane to make use of the online booking system as this will eradicate long queues and ensure that clients do receive efficient and reliable service.
The new online system will benefit the public by promoting efficient service delivery, removing barriers to access, eliminating fraud and corruption and optimizing business operations.
In the event that an appointment date for a learner or driving test is allocated within three (3) working days from date seeking an appointment, the applicant may confirm the test on the day of the test provided that the applicant arrives at the DLTC at least one (1) hour ahead of the testing time.
It is also advisable that applicant brings along an optometrist eye test certificate to the station to be used only if the applicant has passed the test on the day of the test.
If a test is failed an applicant may seek a next testing date on the very same day. A test date may be allocated, if available, as early as the next day.
MMC Senkubuge will also be visiting some of these centers next week to have the first-hand experience on how the new system works.
