Pierneef Exhibition
An exhibition of selected works by JH Pierneef was opened on 5 September in Gallery 20.20. About eighty invited guests enjoyed the evening. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the Tshwane Metro and the Pretoria Art Museum and can be seen until 7 October from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00. Over the weekends the exhibition is open from 09:00 to 16:00. The entrance fee is R15 per car. However, if you visit the Monument as well, the normal entry fees apply.
Bloedrivier on Voetspore
The TV program Voetspore filmed at our Bloodrivier Heritage site in September. Our MD, Cecilia Kruger, was on hand to help with relevant historical information.
Tree Donation
IWESCO donated an Apple-leaf tree to the Monument and also planted it themselves at the picnic site.
They have been planting a tree every September for the past twenty years to symbolize the growth of the company.
Show
The Monument took part in a four-day tourism show at the Menlyn Mall in September.
The show is presented by the Menlyn Mall to showcase the best tourism attractions in Pretoria.
Music Under the Stars
The SANDF’s Music Under the Stars performance took place at Fort Schanskop on the 21st of September. The weather played along nicely and the music was exceptional.

Events
Antique & Collectables Fair
By popular demand we have decided to present an additional Antique & Collectables Fair for the year on Saturday, 2 November.
Just in time for Christmas! As usual, it will take place on the roof of the amphitheatre from 09:00 to 15:00.
The entrance fee is R 30 per vehicle.
Please remember to leave your pets at home.
The market will be a part of our annual events from now on and it will take place on the first Saturday in November.
The Armed Man
A musical performance in the Voortrekker Monument – The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins with the Capital City Orchestra conducted by Hannelie van Sittert and Paul Loeb van Zuilenberg.
The Magaliesberg Children’s Choir, Wonderboom High School and Con Wonité are part of the performance.
The performance starts at 19:30 and tickets are R 230 each.
Tickets can only be obtained from Quicket.
Evening Tour
The evening tour which is part of the GauFestival on the 4th of October is already fully booked.
This means that there are no more evening tours this year.
These tours are now so popular that you will have to book immediately as soon as a date is announced or you will miss it.
Those of you who have already taken part in an evening tour will agree that it is quite an experience.
Anglo Boer War Commemoration
We are commemorating the Anglo Boer War on Sunday, 13 October with an event between Fort Klapperkop and Fort Schanskop on our site.
The event is free and starts at Klapperkop from 10:30.
