Update: Repairs to Sunnyside burst pipe complete
02 September 2019
The City of Tshwane’s engineers have successfully completed the repairs to the damaged section of a pipeline that supplies water to Sunnyside and nearby areas. Some of the affected residents started having water this morning, however, due to the high consumption around peak hour, other areas continued to experience water outage.
Residents are urged to be prudent when using water as the system has not stabilized as yet. Technicians have fully opened the valves and water is expected to start filling-up in the network.
The Utility Services Department is monitoring the network for any unforeseen hiccups such as leakages and/or burst pipes. It cannot be said at this point as to when water supply will be fully restored as this is dependent on how quickly the system stabilises.
Water tankers are still deployed in the affected areas to ensure water provision to residents.
Some of the following targeted groups are still affected:
- Sunnyside, Arcadia, Clydesdale as well as South of Pretoria CBD
- Health facilities (Hospitals)
- Old age homes
- Embassies
The City apologises for the inconvenience caused by this unplanned interruption.
