Update: Repairs to Iscor Reservoir supply network completed
20 August 2019
Last night, the City’s technicians successfully managed to complete the repairs to the vandalised section of the pipeline that runs along the Pretoria West Police Academy.
The water supply to the reservoir has been re-opened and residents will have their water supply restored gradually as the system fills up. The system is expected to start picking up from the lowest points, meaning low-lying areas such as West Park, Kwaggasrand and Proclamation Hill, with the SAPS College at the highest point being the last to receive water completely.
Residents are urged to take cognisance of the fact that the network has been without water. As a result, there is a build-up of air in the pipeline. The City’s artisans are monitoring the network and it is hoped that the system will stabilise if there are no hiccups such as leakages and/or burst pipes in the next two to three days.
The importance of using water sparingly and limiting consumption to household use only is vital. Furthermore, watering gardens, washing cars and filling swimming pools is discouraged at this point.
The City will continue to supply tankers for water provision in the affected areas until the situation normalises.
The City pleads with residents to be patient during this period.
The following areas/facilities are still affected by the interruption:
- Pretoria Industrial
- West Park
- Kwaggasrand
- Proclamation Hill
- SAPS Training College
The City wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused as a result of this unplanned interruption.
