17 September 2019
Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Roads and Transport in the City of Tshwane, Councillor (Cllr) Sheila Senkubuge has welcomed today’s march against drug abuse, xenophobic attacks and gender based violence by the taxi industry.
According to MMC Senkubuge, “This march further emphasised the close working relationship between the City, taxi industry as well as law enforcement agencies. It further highlighted the new commitment for all three stakeholders to work together to combat the scourge of drugs in the City”.
The motorcade was made up of about fifty vehicles spearheaded by taxi operators. The march started at 10h00 from the Old Putco Depot and proceeded to various taxi ranks within the City.
In conclusion, the MMC noted that the late Jabu Baloi’s death has been an agonising happening. His death was not in vain.
