Tshwane announces disaster fund account number
16 April 2020
The City of Tshwane is pleased to announce that ABSA Bank Limited has come on board and provided the financial platform into which monetary deposits can be made to complement our efforts towards helping the downtrodden and destitute communities during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Last week, the City made a humble request for donations, relief material and assistance from the business sector and organisations to give impetus to its efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19, particularly among the poor and vulnerable communities.
Our appeal seems to have fallen on receptive ears, following our call, a number of companies and individuals have come forward and expressed a wish to contribute towards minimising the financial impact that this global pandemic is having on our strained financial resources. Today, we are delighted to announce that we have established the “Tshwane Disaster Fund” and partnered with Absa Bank Limited under the following banking details:
Account Name: CITY OF TSHWANE METROPOLITAN MUNICIPLAITY
Special Name: TSHWANE DISASTER FUND
Account Number: 40-8720-7847
Absa Branch: Pretoria
Branch Code: 632005
The City has been working with other spheres of government in an effort to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, commonly known as the Corona virus, which is potentially more ravaging to the vulnerable sections of our communities, such as the homeless and those living in informal settlements.
The City is grateful for the kind assistance received thus far from various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), businesses and organisations, and we would like intensify our call to others that have not yet expressed any desire to contribute or to pledge their support and offer donations in any form – monetary or relief material – to lessen the burden on the already stretched financial resources of the municipality.
The City of Tshwane believes that the generosity and benevolence of business, individuals and NGOs in this regard will go a long way in preventing and containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic which has already claimed lives of South Africans.
The City’s Emergency Services Department further requests any organisation willing to make in-kind donations or to provide relief material to assist in managing the effects of COVID-19 in Tshwane, to drop off such at the Centurion Emergency Services Station, 3 Basden Avenue, Centurion.
