Three Munich Museums Restitute 9 Nazi-Looted Artworks to the Heirs of Jewish Collectors
The Jewish art collectors Julius and Semaya Franziska Davidsohn became victims of a major Nazi art theft by the Gestapo on a fateful day in Munich in the fall of 1938. The childless couple were arrested and taken to a concentration camp and their possessions were seized.
Price of Rare Dodo Skeleton Flies High at Auction
As you may remember, the dodos were discovered on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean in 1598 by Dutch sailors. They became extinct by 1758. The strange-looking flightless birds were not afraid of humans and were killed for food until none were left. The last dodo skeleton was discarded by a museum because it was too expensive to repair.
