Magical Live-Action Version of the Jungle Book in IMAX® 3D
Magical live-action version of the Jungle Book in IMAX® 3D is only way to watch this epic remake
Bookings are now open for this timeless, favourite classic tale…
This Friday, 15 April, the classic tale of The Jungle Book comes to the big screen in an epic, all-new live-action version, directed by Jon Favreau (Chef, Iron Man, Elf), and featuring an all-star cast. The film releases in Ster-Kinekor’s immersive IMAX® theatres, giving movie lovers the maximum movie experience.
Adapted from both the 1967 Disney classic animated film and the original source material from author Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories, the film is given a refreshed feel, and is visually stunning.
Newcomer Neel Sethi stars as Mowgli, the man-cub who finds his own place in the jungle after being taken in and raised by a pack of wolves, including alpha male Akela (Giancarlo Esposito) and the fiercely protective mother-wolf, Raksha (Lupita Nyong’o). His life is threatened however, by the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man and doesn’t believe men belong in the jungle. He promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat.
Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by the panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotises the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.
In addition to this all-star cast of Hollywood greats, Garry Shandling, Brighton Rose, Emjay Anthony, Asher Blinkoff, Sam Raimi, Russell Peters, Ritesh Rajan, Sara Arrington, Allan Trautman and Dee Bradley Baker also add their voices to this magical production.
The IMAX release of The Jungle Book is digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of An IMAX 3D Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will ensure audiences find themselves in the middle of the magical jungle with Mowgli and friends.
The Jungle Book: An IMAX® 3D Experience seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.
The film, which releases countrywide on Friday, 15 April, can also be seen in the luxury of the Cine Prestige 3D cinemas at select sites, and in 3D and 2D at all Ster-Kinekor cinemas.
