Hoërskool Akasia boasts with top matrics
Hoërskool Akasia produced a near-perfect 99.4 percent pass rate in the matric exams in 2018.
The school boasted 75% of learners receiving a matric exemption pass, making them eligible to register for a bachelor’s degree.

Tiisetso Morake was the school’s top achiever with an average of 87%.
Her subjects included English 82%, Afrikaans first additional language 85%, mathematics 81%, life orientation 93%, accounting 91%, life sciences 85% and physical science 92%.
Tiisetso plans on becoming a chartered accountant.
Jaco Briel also stood out as one of the top achievers, boasting with an average of 86.3%
His subjects included English first additional language 81%, mathematics 82%, life orientation 86%, civil technology 96%, engineering graphics and design 89%, Afrikaans 79% and physical science 91%.
He plans on studying electrical engineering and said he would also love to farm.
Onesimo Cengimbo also achieved a high average of 82.7%.
She scored distinctions in English 83%, Afrikaans first additional language 83%, life orientation 89%, dramatic arts 86% and life sciences 81%.
She plans on completing life and environmental studies to become an environmental manager.
“As an environmental manager I’ll be collaborating with development giants and mines to ensure that these sectors operate in environmentally friendly ways,” said Cengimbo.
