The final day of the Sign Language three-day convention themed “Don’t Give Up!” has come to a conclusion.
The free-admission program ran from Friday, 18 August to Sunday, 20 August 2017 at the Midrand Assembly Hall. The convention was attended by many deaf visitors from Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Western Cape and Free State, as well as some from our neighbouring countries Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland. The convention program was also streamed live to attendees in Namibia.
The convention program discussed how to keep doing what is fine and to keep enduring despite trials. The program also helped those in attendance to cultivate qualities that promote endurance.
On Friday, there were 437 in attendance in Midrand, 34 in Namibia.
In addition to this was the release of the dramatic bible reading of how Jehovah delivers his people, available for download on https://www.jw.org/sfs/publications/jw-convention-releases/
On Saturday, the convention had 563 in attendance and 41 in Namibia. The convention program focused on how to find joy while enduring tribulation.
The special highlight of our Saturday program was the dedication to Jehovah God by means of water baptism. Four people dedicated their lives to Jehovah, while 563 beaming faces witnessed this special occasion in Midrand and 40 in Namibia. The four consisted of: Reananetse Motale; Parys resident (9), Moses Seokoma; Phalaborwa (40) resident, Oviwe Nomqoto (19); Orange Farm resident and Lindiwe Ngwenya (28), Nelspruit resident.
Another highlight of the Saturday program was the release of a new book “Lessons You Can Learn From the Bible”.
On Sunday, The public discourse entitled “Never Give Up Hope” discussed the solid reason not to give up hope. The talk considered three questions (1) How we can benefit from having hope, (2) What hope does the bible offer and (3) How we can make the hope offered in the bible our own.
We had an attendance of 577 in Midrand and 42 in Namibia. Attendees enjoyed the final part of the feature-length film entitled “Remember the wife of Lot”, which highlighted the importance of putting our worship to Jehovah first in our lives above material pursuits.
