City of Tshwane urges residents to make use of local clinics
30 March 2020
The City of Tshwane would like to urge its residents to make use of clinics located next to their residential areas for medical attention instead of travelling to other clinics located far away from their homes.
The city is running and managing 24 clinics and we have noticed a developing trend of patients by-passing clinics next to their residential areas going to clinics in other regions, thus putting a strain on the capacity of personnel at some of the clinics.
With the 21-day lockdown period in full swing due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we urge residents not to commute outside their regions or to clinics in the regions where they are registered in order to contain the spread of the virus, except for essential services workers that have the necessary permit to travel outside their residential areas.
The municipality has good healthcare facilities that provide quality healthcare services located at the doorstep of our residents to minimise the travelling distances and to lessen the burden of costs associated with travelling because we value their health.
