City of Tshwane provides buses for SASSA Beneficiaries
29 March 2020
In line with the directive issued by Transport Minister Mr Fikile Mbalula to cater for the elderly during the 21-day lockdown period, the Tshwane Rapid Transit Pty Ltd has resolved to provide bus services to all SASSA pay points across all the city’s seven regions from March 30 2020 to April 1 2020.
The buses – A Re Yeng and Tshwane Bus Service (TBS) – will ferry the SASSA pension beneficiaries to their pay-point locations and back from 8am to 4pm and they will only be available to the specified group announced by SASSA. The strict measures follow the national lockdown which is aimed at minimising the unnecessary movement of people to prevent and combat the spread of COVID-19, also known as the ‘corona virus’.
In order to smoothen the movement of the elderly people we have developed a list of the regional coordinators to assist in the smooth transportation and loading of the vulnerable people of our society. Attached is a list of pick-up points and the respective coordinators.
We implore our community to cooperate with our officials to enable us to comply with social distancing at the pay points as well as in the buses.
