012central Newsletter – September 2017
Are you proudly PretoriJa?
Pretoria is a city with a legacy, a story that is often untold. A story is hidden in the everyday buildings, the spaces we often walk by without a second glance.
September is Heritage month and we’ll be ending it off with another 012central walk themed proudly Pretori-Ja! Join us on Saturday as we uncover and explore the buildings and the stories behind them that make our capital city unique. Some attractions include the Queen Street Mosque, the oldest café on Church Square, new public art and one of the lesser known arcades in the centre of town.

One of our oldest gems
Café Riche was established in the early 1900’s. The establishment still welcomes patrons today and is one of our city’s international tourist attractions. Experience old school charm at its best. Coffee and light meals are served from 06:00-18:00 and your host Leon Bezuidenhout will be there to welcome you and share some interesting stories from the past.
In other news
Earlier this month the City of Tshwane launched Pretoria’s first Bicycle Unit. This anti-crime initiative was made possible by a partnership between City Property, the city, Hatfield CID and other partners. Keep a look out for the 22 metro police officers who will be patrolling the Hatfield area. Another excellent initiative – keeping our city safe. Read more here.
We’re extending the Family
We will soon be welcoming some new tenants to the precinct, the mix includes a local fashion boutique, a sports café and an architecture firm. As our space continues to develop we are looking to add galleries, workshops and studios to the area. Vibrance and charm are at the forefront of this expansion, and we invite like-minded individuals to get in touch with a proposal today.
