More hands needed for East community clean-up
Organisers have asked for more residents to take part in a local Pretoria East community clean-up initiative planned for this weekend.
“We need more hands-on board,” said former Ward 47 councillor Daryl Johnston.
The initiative is led by Lyttelton sector 4 Community Policing Sub Forum (LS4 CPSF), Welriet NPC, a non-profit organisation and Johnston.
They all called for more residents to take part in this bi-monthly community clean-up campaign.
“Residents are encouraged to join us for a few hours on a Saturday morning to help improve the community environment,” said Johnston.
The clean-up focuses on areas as Elarduspark, Wingate Park, Rietvalleirand and Rietvallei Park.
The initiative started last year and happens twice a month.
Speaking on the significance of the project, Johnston said: “It has a two-fold effect of improving the community environment as well as creating camaraderie amongst residents, who roll up their sleeves and work shoulder-to-shoulder in an effort to improve their suburbs.”
