Moot locals urged to be crime-conscious during lockdown
Complaints such as house break-ins and theft were still made daily.
While crime was low in the Moot during the 21-day lockdown period, police still urged residents to be crime-conscious during this time.
“A drop in crime has been reported,” said Pretoria Moot police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt.
He added, however, that complaints such as house break-ins and theft were still made daily.
“We are also concerned about the possibility of business robbery at shopping centres and small businesses,” he said.
He advised businesses, including small businesses, to bank daily cash instead of keeping it on hand.
He urged residents to make sure that all loose items that are easily stolen from the yard, are secured and locked away.
“Do not put valuables near open windows and make sure outside buildings are closed,” he said.
Breedt said there were still people who did not obey the President’s request, as there was still movement in the neighbourhoods, especially on garbage removal days.
