Mayor Drives Re A Spana Clean-Up Initiative in Sunnyside
On November 1, Tshwane Mayor Dr. Nasiphi Moya led an extensive clean-up and service delivery drive in Sunnyside, Pretoria Central, as part of her newly announced 100-day plan to revitalize the metro. Known as the “Re A Spana” campaign, the initiative focused on a wide range of activities, including spaza shop and liquor store inspections, litter collection, tree felling, grass cutting, homelessness outreach, and essential maintenance such as streetlight repairs, pothole fixes, and water leak solutions.
The Re A Spana campaign, according to Mayor Moya, aims to reclaim and rejuvenate public spaces in Tshwane, fostering a spirit of active citizen involvement. “The purpose of Re A Spana is to inspire community engagement and encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors,” Moya explained. “Through the combined efforts of city authorities, businesses, NGOs, civil society, and residents, we can create a noticeable impact and restore pride in our city.”
The campaign represents a holistic approach to urban improvement, uniting various sectors for a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant Tshwane.
