Local iron woman helps those in need

Since the start of the national lockdown, a resident from the west of Pretoria has done her part to help those in need.
These good deeds were done by Veronica van der Neut of Pretoria Gardens, who was recently named the brand ambassador for the Classic Regency International beauty pageant.
She was set to leave for Nevada, Las Vegas, in July this year, but due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the trip was rescheduled for next year.
In a previous interview, Van der Neut told Rekord her role as brand ambassador was to make a difference in the community.
Which is why she has been involved in several projects during the lockdown.
One such project was when Van der Neut started a fundraiser for baby clothes and accessories.
“I collected baby clothes and accessories for a girl who was expecting a baby,” she said.
“She does not have a source of income and lives in a small room.”
Van der Neut said she also supported women and children who lived under “adverse circumstances”.
“I care for the underprivileged,” she said.
