City of Tshwane Firefighters Extinguish a Building Fire in Eersterust
The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department responded to a building fire incident in Job Avenue in Eersterust on the evening of Tuesday, 4 February 2025.
The building fire was reported to the Emergency Communication Centre (ECC) at about 21:38. The ECC immediately dispatched the following firefighting resources from Silverton Fire Station to the scene – an industrial pumper, a water tanker and a district commander’s unit. An additional fire engine was also dispatched from Mamelodi Fire Station to the scene, as backup.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found out that a restaurant in a single-storey building was on fire. A lot of smoke was coming out of the flat roof made of corrugated iron sheets. They immediately began with firefighting operations, even using forcible entry tools to access the restaurant, as it was after hours, with no one inside the building. There were four large LPG cylinders outside and firefighters prevented these from being exposed to the fire. The fire was soon brought under control by the firefighters, and they completely extinguished it at about 23:18.
Firefighters also stopped the fire from spreading to the two adjacent and exposed double storey buildings, which remained intact and unaffected by the fire.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
