Winding Down a Great Networking Year at Hirsch Centurion
Hirsch’s believes in rewarding the women in the community who are making a difference in their world through the Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever Awards competition. The competition runs over the period of a year, where the monthly finalist stands to win a R500 Hirsch’s gift voucher and the overall winner a R10 000 gift voucher.
Recently the November finalist, Adel van Heerden – owner of Steele Model Agency, was announced as a finalist at Hirsch’s Centurions monthly Ladies Networking morning. Adel not only runs the Agency, but makes a valuable contribution towards the community through providing children and teens the opportunity to enter the Fashion world, whether it be as models or fashion designers.
Says Adel: “I started modelling when I was 15 years old, and the confidence and character that it built in me encouraged me to make this available to those less privileged.”
The keynote speaker at the event was Nicolette Steel, who is a sought after Inspirational Speaker and Author.
The title of her message was ‘Looking back to the future’ where she explained that in order for us to move forward we need to look at what we have learnt from the past. “Embrace the person you have become”. She spoke on the importance of celebrating our past successes and also the hard situations we have gone through – recognising the fact that we have survived them and keeping this in mind – we will be able to attempt the impossible. Quoting from the song by One Republic, Nicolette encouraged the ladies to live life to the full: – “with every broken bone, I swear I lived”.
After an encouraging message, each of the participants had the opportunity to present themselves and their business in a 30 second time slot. After the formal part of the event, opportunity was given for guests to network over a cup of coffee and breakfast snacks.
