Power Alert: Stage 4 Loadshedding has been implemented
Eskom has announced that load shedding will be pushed to stage 4 on Wednesday, continuing until 05h00 on Friday.
The schedule will then return to stage 2 until 05h00 on Saturday, it said.
“Due to further shortage of generation capacity, Eskom regrets to announce that stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 12h00 today (Wednesday) until 05h00 on Friday,” it said.
“Over the past 24 hours a unit each at Medupi, Kusile, and Matla power stations tripped, while a unit each at Lethabo and Arnot power stations were forced to shut down. This constrained the power system further requiring extensive use of emergency reserves, therefore hampering the recovery of these reserves.”
Eskom said that some generating units have returned to service and it anticipates another two units will return during the day.
It said load shedding is a last resort and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
Regretfully Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 12:00 on Wednesday until 05:00 on Friday; thereafter Stage 2 load shedding will continue as previously communicated until 05:00 on Saturday
