Notice Road Closures due to Cosatu March 24 Aug 2022
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) will march to the Union Buildings on Wednesday morning to pressure the government to deal with high unemployment and cost of living.
The Tshwane metro police (TMPD) spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said TMPD officers will be deployed to monitor the situation on the ground.
He said the protest is expected to start at 08:00 and last until 14:30.
The protestors will gather on the corner of Lilian Ngoyi and Jeff Masemola streets (Burgers Park) at about 08:00 and disperse from the Union Buildings at about 14:30.
The following streets will be affected:
- Francis Baard Street
- Nana Sita Street
- Visagie Street
- Pretorius Street
- Helen Joseph Street
- Madiba Street
- Sisulu Street
- Du Toit Street
- Nelson Mandela Drive
- Steve Biko Street
- Hamilton Street
Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:
- Jeff Masemola Street
- Thabo Sehume Street
- Struben Street
- Bosman Street
- Paul Kruger Street
- Edmond Street
- Park Street
- Boom Street
Plan your trips accordingly to prevent getting stuck in unwanted traffic jams.
