NERSA confirms IPP directive from Radebe
Electricity regulator NERSA confirmed they received a letter from Energy Minister Jeff Radebe on the licensing of independent power producers.
Nersa stated Radebe did not direct them to license IPPs.
He rather notified NERSA he has approved a deviation from the integrated resource plan.
NERSA pointed out it is the minister’s prerogative to do so.
The energy regulator said it is still charting the way forward after the deviation approved by the minister.
It was earlier reported that Radebe had opened the way for businesses to generate their own electricity and feed this into the national grid.
