Hirsch’s Centurion Master Cook-off
They came, they saw, they cooked!! Hirsch’s Centurion recently held an extremely successful cook off with Capsicum Culinary Studio, and SA Chefs training and innovation academy, and the evening’s success was attributed to the young and vibey students (chefs) from the two schools.
A total of 55 chefs converged onto the Master Cook-off floor, with main sponsor Haier, whose fridges were stocked with all kinds of food. Some of the interesting ingredients were Jaarlemoene, Ostrich, and Parsnips with an Italian theme. The chefs had to race to the fridges with the mystery ingredients (each fridge stocked differently). They only had an hour and a half to come up with and execute a main and dessert.
Capsicum Culinary Studio took the R23 000 prize (Weekend away for two) for the school that brought in the most guests. The Cook-off champs were SA Chefs training and innovation academy. Our preferred business partner Gas Solutions, matched the Hirsch’s Vouchers, and gave R1000 to each of the team members in the winning team.
Gas Solutions also took upon themselves to make the event safe, by issuing a certificate of safety and manning the gas bottles. “Team Whirlpool” the extra 5 chefs, that came up with original Jet Chef ideas for the cook-off,, were not bound by the time limit nor did they have to stick to the conventional rules of judging, they did however need to be creative!
