March 30, 2022Hennops Revival founder wins international photo competition A photo of Tarryn Johnston was chosen as the winner in an international competition about the pollution of rivers, hosted by a French NPO. On February 5, 2021Over the past few weeks, the increased rainfall in Pretoria has resulted in an increase in waste collection in the so-called ‘poly-island’ litter trap set up by the Hennops Revival NGO. |
On September 15, 2021Hennops Revival completed the litter catchment system in the Hennops River and Hennops Revival also planted Vetiver grass. |
On March 5, 2021This was a busy week for Hennops Revival A whopping 965 bags of waste were collected from the river over two days, weighing an incredible 24 125kg. |

On May 17, 2022Tarryn Johnston and her team of environmentalists of the Hennops Revival turned their attention to the ARC weir in Doringkloof with the help of a local company. |
On April 21-23, 2023Tarryn Johnston, the founder of Hennops River Revival, was given the AfriCAN EARTHizen’s honoree award for her outstanding effort in environmental Conservation Dozens of volunteers from various organizations and local residents participated in the three-day event, to clean up and restore the river and its surrounding areas. |
On August 24, 2023Tarryn Johnston, an activist and founder of Hennops, said that the ponds were currently overwhelmed by water hyacinth. Their dedicated team has been tirelessly removing tons of these invasive plants. One of the most rewarding outcomes was the return of yellow-billed ducks and Egyptian geese to the ponds, creatures that hadn’t been seen in a while. |
On November 29, 2023Hennops River Revival Celebrates Four Years of Battling Water Pollution While acknowledging the progress in cleaning the Hennops River, Johnston revealed plans for a new initiative called Deep Water Movement.
