Cullinan / Rayton Water Crisis
Information from businesses in the area requested to develop a comprehensive emergency plan to address the water crisis in the Cullinan / Rayton area.
An urgent meeting with Magalies Water and the relevant stakeholders managing the current water shortage crisis in Cullinan, Refilwe and Rayton, was held on 17 December 2019 at 11:00 at the Rayton Municipal offices. The meeting was attended by representatives of Tshwane Municipality, Magalies Water, Cullinan Diamond Mine and The Diamond Chamber of Commerce (“DCC”).
Stakeholders were informed of the current status as well as the planned interventions directly from the head the joint task team. Multiple stakeholders are working hard towards addressing the crisis currently being experienced.
The task team also clearly indicated their understanding of the immense impact of the water shortage on business in the region. As such they have communicated their desire to develop a comprehensive emergency plan. The task team requested the DCC to assist, as a high priority, with important data to empower them to accurately address the pains of business.
As the voice of business in the area the DCC require support in obtaining accurate impact assessments and information for all businesses in the area, whether they are members of the DCC or not.
The DCC requests members and businesses in the area to provide them with the following details on how the water crisis is impacting their businesses:
- Business Name
- Business Address
- Business Contact Information (E-mail, Contact Number)
- Type of Business (Sector etc)
- How the water crisis is impacting your business
- Short to Medium Interventions required to keep business running
- Long Term interventions to keep running.
- Current water needs (per litre)
- Do you have a tank/reservoir to store water?
The information is needed urgently to assist the task team pro-actively on behalf of business. Please send your information to jefogwell@outlook.com so that the information can be collated.
The DCC will be in the area and is available to anyone that would like to engage with them. Any member of the executive board can be contacted if you require assistance or have information.
Without proper feedback and information their efforts will not have the desired impact and as such the DCC, along with the rest of the task team, requests your prompt response.
