City of Tshwane introduces a new load shedding schedule
10 September 2015
The City of Tshwane’s Energy and Electricity Division would like to inform customers about a new updated load shedding schedule that will be introduced with effect from Monday 14 September 2015. The revised schedule is a 31 days monthly rotational schedule that will be implemented until further notice.
Consumers will now be rotated in different time slots from the 1st of every the month to the last day of the month. Every month the schedule will start on the 1st day, irrespectively of the number of days in any given month. Customers should take note that the hours have changed from even hours to uneven hours.
Consumers should also please note that load shedding will be effected only when the instruction to shed load is received from Eskom. This means that load shedding starts with the group/s that is/are earmarked on the schedule at that specific time and day of the month.
However, load shedding can take place at any time within a given time slot, and will not necessarily start on the exact time as indicated on the schedule. Different suburbs within a group can be affected, depending on the load the City is required to shed.
Load shedding can be implemented as a Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 or Stage 4 instruction.
The current load shedding groups are not fixed and merely indicate the areas grouped together in order to facilitate load shedding across Tshwane so as to minimise the impact on consumers. These groups might however change at any time, depending on the state of the electricity network infrastructure and in line with the guidelines stipulated in Nersa’s regulations (NRS048-9).
