This exhilarating event, set to take place at the Harlequin Club in Groenkloof, Pretoria on March 2, 2024, is a must for those who kicked off their training early in the new year.
With a track record of drawing over 6,000 enthusiastic runners and walkers, the Medihelp Sunrise Monster promises an unforgettable experience this year. The centerpiece, a 32 km race, serves as the ultimate test for dedicated runners, acting as the perfect conditioning ground for Comrades enthusiasts. For those seeking shorter distances or a lively day out with family, friends, or colleagues, options include the 21 km Half Monster, 10 km Mini Monster, or 5 km Baby Monster.
Adele Lubbe, the senior marketing manager at Medihelp Medical Scheme, highlighted the event’s family-friendly nature during the official launch. In addition to the challenging races, special arrangements have been made for kids with a dedicated play area featuring jumping castles, obstacle courses, and entertainers.

To ensure participants stay hydrated, water points are strategically placed every 3 km. Medical support is readily available along the race routes and at the finish line through Netcare 911, catering to any injuries or general discomfort.
In a bid to promote environmental responsibility, Medihelp encourages runners to bring their pre-filled water bottles and hydration packs. The race also adopts a green theme, encouraging participants to wear green attire. A special prize awaits the person selected as the Greenest Monster of the day.
Leading up to the event, a Spot the Monster competition will run on the website, offering participants a chance to win one of three Garmin Forerunner® 245 Music smartwatches by spotting Sunrise Monsters hidden around the site.
A call is extended to runners and walkers from across Gauteng and neighboring provinces to be part of this epic race and joyous event, with the promise of earning a well-deserved medal for their efforts. Don’t miss out on the chance to make this event one for the books.
