Residents urged to curb the spread of COVID-19
22 July 2020
The City of Tshwane remains committed to carry out the municipal service of waste collection meanwhile urging residents to disinfect wheelie bins to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the lockdown period.
As the City’s Waste Management Division continues to render waste collection services even during the Covid-19 lock down, thousands of bins are handled daily by waste collectors, although they may be provided with protective gloves for their personal protection, possible cross contamination is inevitable.
Cross contamination during handling may occur from one bin to the other, therefore residents are urged to take precautionary measures and disinfect their wheelie bins after collection. In addition, residents are reminded to remember to wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitize after handling your bin.
In our endeavor to provide a hassle-free waste management service, we request assistance and cooperation from our residents by placing their waste bins outside their homes for collection by no later than 07:30 in the morning weekdays on the day of collection, as per the normal schedule
The City is confident that residents will heed our call and comply with the request.
