Tshwane Police Officers Honoured for Exceptional Service
A group of dedicated police officers from Tshwane was recognized for their outstanding contributions to crime investigation, receiving certificates of recognition from District Commissioner Major-General Samuel Thine
The ceremony, attended by district management and station commanders, highlighted the professionalism and commitment of officers whose efforts led to significant convictions. According to Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, the awards were a token of appreciation for the officers who consistently go above and beyond to ensure justice is served.
“These officers, detectives from various units in Tshwane, have shown relentless dedication, working with precision to solve complex cases and secure convictions,” van Dyk said.
One of the officers honored was Constable Ernest Lehlogonolo Digoro from the Temba Family, Child, and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS). Digoro led the investigation of a rape case in Rietgat, resulting in the arrest, charge, and sentencing of the accused to life imprisonment.
Sergeant Kgadi Cathwin Ngoetjana, seconded to the Tshwane District Detective Task Team, was also recognized for her instrumental role in identifying a suspect linked to a series of serious crimes. These crimes included two murders, attempted murder, five house robberies, and vehicle theft, leading to the suspect’s sentencing to two life terms plus 95 years in prison.
Additionally, Sergeant Maria Morapeng Mapyane, also from the Temba FCS unit, was praised for her investigations into two separate rape cases. Her hard work resulted in life sentences for the accused, with one being declared unfit to own a firearm.
