The Sinoville community is facing an alarming surge in vehicle theft, prompting the Sinoville CPF to issue a warning to motorists. Lizzete du Plooy, the CPF spokesperson, urged residents to adopt preventive measures, especially during the festive season when thieves are more active.

Du Plooy emphasized the importance of using anti-theft tracking systems or apps to locate stolen vehicles. Shoppers were particularly cautioned about parking at malls, as thieves are likely to seize opportunities during this time. The CPF urged collective action to thwart these criminal acts and ensure the safety of the community.

Recent incidents highlighted specific vehicle targets, including VW Polos, Nissan NP200s, Toyota Hilux bakkies, Toyota Etioses, and Ford Rangers. Motorists were advised to remain vigilant, especially at night, and be cautious when driving or stopping.

In response to the rising threat, the CPF provided a set of safety tips for residents:

1. Lock Your Vehicle: Always lock your car, even for a brief absence, as this simple step can deter potential thieves.
2. Park in Well-Lit Areas: Choose well-lit and populated parking areas, making your car less appealing to thieves seeking darkness and seclusion.
