Partners Unite to Combat Period Poverty for School Girls
To commemorate Youth Day and Father’s Day which where on the 16 June 2024, Good Morning Angels is joining forces with the MENstruation Foundation to combat Period Poverty.
Despite efforts to raise awareness about the difficult choices many schoolgirls and students face between maintaining their dignity and attending school during their menstrual cycles, a staggering 30% of schoolgirls in South Africa still miss a week of school each month due to a lack of access to sanitary products.
In a remarkable display of fatherly initiative, a group of dedicated dads devised a solution: Sanitary Towel Vending Machines. These machines, stocked with high-quality, locally-made sanitary towels, dispense products through a token system.
So far, 128 machines have been installed in schools, with teachers distributing tokens to girls each month, allowing them to discreetly access the products they need.
We need your support to expand this program and reach even more schools. Imagine if this were for your daughter—together, we can ensure no girl misses school due to period poverty. Our goal is to raise enough funds to install at least 10 new vending machines, benefiting 200 girls for a year.
