Ouma Isie’s Market Champions Small Businesses in Centurion
Centurion residents enjoyed a delightful day out at the latest Ouma Isie’s Farm-to-Table Market, held on November 2 at the historic Smuts House Museum in Irene. The event, founded by Thinus Olivier of Ouma’s Tea Garden, aims to provide small business owners a platform to thrive amid rising costs and a challenging economy.
“The economy is tight and costs are high, but we wanted to create an affordable outing for families while supporting local entrepreneurs,” Olivier said. The market has become a staple event, featuring 36 diverse stalls that showcase everything from handmade goods to fresh produce.
Running every last Saturday of the month for the past five months, the market has become a hub for community connection and growth. Olivier emphasized the importance of supporting small entrepreneurs who are striving to grow their businesses and provide for their families. “This is how we grow the economy—by helping small vendors establish themselves. Today’s market stall could become tomorrow’s local storefront,” he added.
