JJ Geldenhuys

Pretoria local, JJ Geldenhuys is one of the top 50 Mr South Africa finalists for 2014. Appreciating the small things in life, JJ believes everything in life is an accomplishment no matter how big or small.

Currently a 2nd year event management student at Tshwane University of Technology and a part time waiter at Moo Moo restaurant in Brooklyn Mall, ShowMe Pretoria met up with JJ to find out what he loves about Pretoria and what he’s journey as a Mr SA finalist has been like.

What do you believe are the qualities a Mr South Africa should possess?

Have an open mind, don’t judge, be easy approachable, living a healthy lifestyle and always be groomed and look presentable.

Which former Mr South Africa do you look up to and why?

Michael Mol, former Mr South Africa ’96. This man has achieved so much in the industry where I see myself. Mol is a very confident person who shows pride, honour and ambition in what he does.

What would you describe as the perfect date in Pretoria?

I love the French restaurant, Brasserie de Paris, in Pretoria. French music and interesting company, it would be like driving through the French countryside.

What is your greatest passion?

Swimming, I could swim for days. Being in the water makes me feel so free.

How would you like to contribute to the community?

To the community, as hard as it is already, I would like to enforce group projects to improve our public transport, by making it more efficient and effective for every day commuters. This will then lead to a greener future and healthier living.

What is your favourite tourist destination in Pretoria?

I enjoy spending time at the Voortrekker Monument and the rich history, I also enjoy the Park Acoustic events that are hosted at this beautiful landmark.

The National Botanical Gardens Pretoria also offers a quick escape from this busy city life. A beautiful landscape and a peaceful setting.
