Knotty Habit’s Yarn Extravaganza
Unveiling the Vibrancy of Community Crafting at Stoepmark, the most recent Stoepmark event by Knotty Habit took place at R&R Bistro in Villieria, Centurion, bringing together knitters and crocheters from diverse backgrounds.
In May, Knotty Habit will celebrate five years of fostering a community of yarn enthusiasts every last Saturday of the month.
Miensie van Zyl, the owner of Knotty Habit, notes that the Covid-19 pandemic has led to an increased interest in knitting and crocheting, with people dedicating more time to these crafts.
The community challenges stereotypes, as Van Zyl emphasizes, “It’s not just for old people. It’s the biggest offense to say that it’s an ‘old people’s pastime.’ We have participants ranging from 25 to people in their 90s.”
Looking ahead, Van Zyl expresses excitement about the upcoming yarn festival in Cape Town scheduled for March.
Stoepmark welcomes all yarn enthusiasts, whether they are beginners or experienced, to join in every last Saturday of the month.
